Hi everyone in Strathdon school.
We saw deer running alongside us in the early morning light.
Beautiful golden autumn colours and gorgeous sky lines.
Big surf on the north coast beaches as we pass.
A lot of us are thinking of turning around and cycling back down to Lands End – I guess we just don’t want it to end.
Coldest, windiest day so far; probably a good time to stop, but quite good fun along the blustery north coast.
Snuffles says, “My ears are sore from flapping in the wind”!
Finished our coffees and heading back on the road again for the last push. from Thurso to John o’ Groats

Lonach Highlanders “Skye Boat Song” Friday 09 Oct – countdown to JOG!

“Speed bonny bikes, like birds on the wing
Onwards the bikers fly!
Cairtin the gang while bicycles zing
Ower the hills so high.

Loud the winds howl, loud the stags roar
Thunder clouds rend the air
End now in sight, a few miles more
To stop, none would dare!

Speed bonny bikes…………..

and when you reach JOG I’m sure there will be a great kerfuffle and jamboree to welcome you all, but do remember to do wheeliemagigs once you’ve crossed the line!
Love & best wishes to all
A&VT xx

After the cyclists left, Isobel and Mahri stayed and talked with our children for about an hour – they showed us pictures of the Lonach area, Strath Don, and the games you have. It’s such a great idea to keep everyone up to date with your daily diary which I find so interesting and entertaining. How you find the time or energy to write it is amazing! Perhaps you should have made the whole thing into one of those travel documentaries for T.V. – and made even more money! I’m full of admiration for you all and look forward to reading about the rest of your journey, which I hope will be sunny and puncture-free! xx Kathleen Paterson

It was lovely to meet up with Richard and all the Lonach highwaymen(and women) at Meze in Chester yesterday, hope you had a reasonable nights sleep at the ‘alternative’ hostel, it is such a pity that you couldn’t stay at the YHA as planned. I’m sure the problems you had were the last thing you’d need after a long day on the road. Hope you have a good run today and no punctures and a nice place to stay, we have had a bit of drizzle but seems brighter now. Ste enjoyed meeting the Strathdon people again.
We feel that what you are doing is great, all the very best for the rest of the run, we will keep tracking on the website, hope the rain keeps off and and the teashops are as hospitable as goodbrands!
Good cycling, Paul,Anne,Ste and Tom from Mold

Not sure if I have got the right place to leave comments, however, it was great to meet you all yesterday and Rog and I wish you a great second 3/4 of your journey north. You have been so lucky with the weather so lets hope it continues – no fun cycling with rain dripping off your nose.
If every you want to do this again or are passing this we would love to see you at Brownhill House B&B.
Love to Jock who I have not seen for years, we share so many good memories of PGL Boreatton Park in the `Good old Days`.

We were at the Aymestry cafe today and know you reached there! Spies everywhere! I will be logging into your site to see how you are going and we both wish you all the best of luck. By the way the cycle museum you were looking for in Camelford has now closed and been all sold to the Czech Republic. I hope you didn’t donate anything to them. The National Cycle Museum is in Llandrindod Wells, Powys and will never be sold off and well worth a visit if you are in the area. Therese Mason
