Aims

The two main aims of the ride are:

1. Raise some money for Strathdon Primary School, Aberdeenshire and the local charity Cash for Kids (Reg. Charity No SCO05626; chosen by the school children).

2. The ride will also work with the school to introduce topics for the school children to explore on: health/exercise, diet/nutrition and geography/history along the route. The daily progress on the road will be updated with a GPS unit onto a map accessible from this website.

If you are not interested in the details regarding the ride then please go to our fund raising page for details on how to donate a few pounds. Every penny will go to Strathdon Primary school library and the local charity Cash for Kids.
Riders will be paying for their own living and transport costs.

As well as making a donation, you might like to consider passing on the link to this page to at least two other people, who you think would consider donating a few pounds.  If everyone that we contact passes the site details then we will quickly have a large pool of potential sponsors

The project is based in the community of Strathdon, western Aberdeenshire.  The cycling group was formed at the beginning of March 2009.  Riders all live in the local area roughly between the Lecht and Mossat.

Riders expect to meet their own costs (transport/food/accommodation) for this trip.

Our plans are to cycle a quiet route of about 1066 miles in approx. 15-17 days arriving on 9th October, the last day of school term. This amounts to 50-85 miles or so per day. We plan to stay mostly in budget accommodation such as youth hostels, but will also take a tent for backup.
